I've been on an endless adventure since arriving in Colorado in 2019, immersing myself in the Montessori education world and exploring the dreams of Early Childhood. My life has been filled with other adventures, too, like the summer I spent in Wisconsin in 2008, learning English, or the summer of 2009 in Paris, studying French. I even braved a winter in Berlin in 2010, “learning German”—all with a single purpose: to read English, French, and German philosophical and literary works in their original languages.
But my greatest adventure was the time I spent in Mérida, Venezuela, studying Ancient Greek under the guidance of my mentor, Venezuelan philosopher and writer José Manuel Briceño Guerrero, widely known as Jonuel Brigue. During those years, I delved into the world of Ancient Greek and Latin, journeying from the musicality of The Iliad and The Odyssey’s hexameters to the eloquence of Plato’s prose, tracing a Western literary and philosophical timeline that transports one beyond the ordinary.
And then, my writing! How can one immerse oneself in the highest creations of humanity, —stand so close to the heart of Sappho—and not feel the urge to write, to create? I’ll leave these questions open, for in their mystery, the heartbeat never ceases. May the mystery of creation remain hidden, but always alive!
